OF THE CATALUNYA LINE |

The company
Catalunya Railways S.A. is created, using a complicated financial
operation made thanks to Mr.F. S. Pearson, with the main objective of
having the Sarrià Train and be able to expand its interests |
| 11/1916 |
The Sarrià to
Les Planes section is opened |
| 1917 |
The line is
inaugurated up to Sant Cugat |
| 28/12/1919 |
The first
train coming from Barcelona reaches Terrassa |
| 1921 |
The ending
station of the Catalunya Railways is built |
| 1934 |
The company
unifies to 1200 volts DC the electric voltage of the two lines that it
manages |
| 1936 |
A worker
committee of the company takes the management of the net |
| 1962 |
The floods of
the 25th September damage seriously the last section of the line. A
temporary station was built where now there's the Tren de Baix street |
| 1977 |
The economic
situation of the company becomes dreadful and the suspension of the
sevice is announced for the 30th June |
| 06/1977 |
To avoid the
closing, the lines are transferred to FEVE |
| 28/07/1978 |
With the
restoration of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Central Government
transfers the lines managed by FEVE to the autonomus government |
| 1983 |
A new
generation of trains (111 units) is missed in service. They have the top
railway technology of the moment |
| 16/05/1986 |
The new
underground section of the last stretch of the line and the new
underground station is inaugurated |
| 1993 |
The double
track between Terrassa and Sant Cugat is finished |
| 1996 |
At the end
of June the Metro del Vallès is missed in service, that allows to get a
train to Barcelona every 12 minutes |

The tickets
integration make possible that using a single ticket you can travel on
the train, bus and underground paying only one time |
| 16/10/2003 |
The start of
the works for the Metro del Vallès extension is done. It will go to the
university campus, the North station and Can Roca |
